The S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator, also known as the Pipeline, is a device that was created by S.T.A.R. Labs. When it exploded it created numerous meta-humans in Central City.

It was repurposed as a special prison when the Flash started to operate, although the team currently prefers to leave arrests to law enforcement.

History

Explosion

In 2013, the particle accelerator was activated by S.T.A.R. Labs to power all of Central City with clean energy, and to further the advancement of the science and medicine. However, when they turned it on, something went horribly wrong, and the particle accelerator exploded, sending a huge shock-wave of dark matter into the clouds and throughout the entire city.

Pipeline

After the explosion, the Pipeline, created and named by Ronnie Raymond, started to be used as a prison for the Flash's enemies.

When he resurfaced after Crisis and possessed Harrison Nash Wells, Eobard Thawne was incarcerated in the Pipeline, but he escaped by tricking Cisco into placing a neural splicer onto Nash's gauntlet.

Barry Allen was held in the Pipeline after being mistaken for a mirror duplicate, but he was eventually set free by Cecile Horton.

Esperanza Garcia was held briefly in the Pipeline before being released by her cousin Allegra Garcia after she had been reformed.

A clone of Godspeed was captured and held in the Pipeline where he was interogated by Barry briefly before escaping.
