The first season of Batwoman premiered on October 6, 2019 on The CW. The season was originally to consist of 22 episodes. However, the number of episodes was shortened to 20 due to production shutting down indefinitely on March 13, 2020 as a preventive measure for the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.[1]

Trivia

  • Initially, David Nutter had been chosen to serve as director and executive producer on the pilot in January 2019, but by mid-February of that same year, he left the project due to personal reasons.
    • Nutter remained an executive producer on the episode, with Marcos Siega replacing him as director and also serving as an executive producer.
  • Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, Elizabeth Anweis, Dougray Scott and LaMonica Garrett are only credited for their respective episode appearances.
  • On March 13, 2020, production was shut down indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 corona-virus pandemic.[3]
    • On March 24, 2020, it was revealed in a press release from the CW that new episodes for Batwoman have been pulled for all of April until further notice. As a result, episode 17 didn't air on its designated March 29, 2020, date.[4]
  • On March 30, 2020, it was revealed in another press release that Batwoman would return with new episodes on April 26, 2020, alongside Season 5 of Supergirl.[5]
  • Every episode of Season 1 (excluding Pilot and Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two) has been named after a quote from Alice in Wonderland.
