Confirmed plot points

  • There will be a crossover episode with Superman & Lois.[6]
  • The new character, who will take the mantle of Batwoman, will be inspired by the original but won't be necessarily the best person for the job at the beginning.[7]

Confirmed characters

  • Ryan Wilder: A likable, messy, little goofy and untamed woman who's nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter; highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. She is an out lesbian, athletic, raw, passionate, fallible and very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.[4]

Production

  • On May 19, Ruby Rose announced her departure from the series just two days after the conclusion of the first season finale, "O, Mouse!". It was initially reported that the role of Kate Kane would be recast.[8] On June 2, it was announced that an entirely new character would be introduced to replace Ruby Rose's character as Batwoman. [3][7] By July 8, Javicia Leslie was hired.
