Arrow was renewed for a third season on February 13, 2014. It will premiere on October 8, 2014, one day after The Flash.[1]

Official synopsis

In the aftermath of his victory, Season Three opens with The Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow.[2]

  • At the beginning of the season, The Arrow will be seen as a hero to the city.[2]
  • Quentin Lance will have become a police captain and ultimately have called off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force.[2]
  • Oliver will ask Felicity out on a date.[2]
  • In the second episode, Oliver will hunt down a mercenary who is wanted for murder in seven countries, now targeting victims associated with a specific company.[19][19]
  • "Episodes 8 of both shows, Arrow and Flash, are going to be a two-hour crossover event. "Also, in Episode 4, Felicity is going to come to The Flash." [20]

New characters

  • Ray Palmer: Ray is an unparalleled scientist and inventor who will become the new CEO of Queen Consolidated, as well as a possible love interest for Felicity. However, his plans for the company's Applied Sciences division will be an intentional mystery.[9]
  • "Seth": A potentially recurring character, Seth uses his knack for chemistry to develop a drug that drains the willpower of his enemies. He'll be more than a physical match for The Arrow.[10]
  • Maseo Yamashiro: A major recurring character in Hong Kong flashbacks, at the very least, he will begin as Oliver's teacher and handler but will develop in to a friend. He's well-trained, being skilled in weaponry, combat and intelligence gathering. He's a dedicated father and husband, and is in his late 20s to early 30s.[10]
  • Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana: Highly skilled in martial arts, she is Maseo's wife and also one of Oliver's handlers.[10]
  • Werner Zytle/Vertigo: Following Count Vertigo's death, Zytle is the new dealer of Vertigo. He will appear in "The Calm", the first episode of the season.[13]
