DC's Legends of Tomorrow was renewed for a fifth season by The CW on January 31, 2019.^[2] It will premiere in January 2020^[1] and consist of 16 episodes as well as a Crisis on Infinite Earths special.^[3]

Sara will get a magical illness, which will later become a superpower.^[11]
Ava will experience some personal growth this season because she is currently unemployed; in the wake of the events of "Hey, World!", the Time Bureau was shuttered, meaning the Legends are now once again the timeline's last line of defense and Ava must figure out what comes next for her.^[11]
Tala Ashe will be portraying a different version of Zari.^[4] This version of Zari will "come in like a hurricane" and is expected to be hated but then maybe loved by fans.^[12]
The new historical villains will be called "Encores".^[13]
Astra will be the main antagonist of the season.^[8]
Caity Lotz will direct the 5th episode.^[14]
The first episode of the season will be the fifth part of Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, "Meet the Legends" is considered to be the season premiere.
Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford will depart as series regulars at some point.^[15]
There will be an episode centered on Ray and Nate that will somehow involve a prom.^[12]
The season premiere will be a mockumentary-style episode.^[12]
