The season was originally planned to consist of 22 episodes.[1] However, the number of episodes was changed to 20 due to Melissa Benoist's pregnancy[2] and later to 19 due to production shutting down indefinitely on March 13, 2020 as a preventive measure for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.[3]

  • This was the last season to feature Mehcad Brooks as series regular.
  • Mehcad Brooks and LaMonica Garrett are only credited for their respective episode appearances.
  • This season had 12 starring roles, making it the largest main cast in a single season across all Arrowverse shows.
  • On April 21, 2020, Jon Cryer revealed that the season finale is being rewritten and that it changes his character's fate through the use of footage from the original finale filmed prior to production shutting down.[4]
  • This is now the shortest season of Supergirl with 19 episodes, beating the first season (which had 20) by one episode.
