Arrow was renewed for a seventh season by The CW on April 2, 2018.[2] It will premiere on October 15, 2018.[1]

Synopsis
There has been no shortage of close calls for Oliver Queen when it comes to protecting his super hero identity, but in the season six finale, he was finally backed into a corner and forced to reveal himself to the world as the Green Arrow. Now, Oliver will come face-to-face with many of the criminals he placed behind bars, as he makes a new home for himself at Slabside Maximum Security Prison. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.[13]
Confirmed plot points
- The annual crossover event will introduce Batwoman and Gotham City.[14]
- The ninth episode, directed by James Bamford, will be the crossover episode and mid-season finale.[15]
- Lois Lane will not appear in Arrow's part of the crossover.[16]
- The Longbow Hunters will be introduced this season, after first being mentioned in "Life Sentence".[17]
- Oliver will get out of prison.[18]
- Felicity and William's lives and relationship will be impacted and strained due to them being family to Green Arrow.[19]
- Redemption serves as the major theme for season 7.[15]
- William will have an upcoming story arc.[20]
- Roy will have to deal with the consequences of Oliver revealing his identity.[19]
- Returning cast member Colton Haynes teased that Roy is not the same person when he returns,[20] but he will be the Earth One version.[21]
- For Rene, the crux of the season is seeing how he interprets Oliver's directive to carry on his mission.[20]
- Laurel Lance, Star City's new DA[21], will follow a redemption path and try to get justice on Diaz for Quentin's death.[22]
- The events of "Inmate 4587", will be set 5 months after the events of "Life Sentence".
Confirmed new characters
- Jessie Bowden: She is the rookie recruit in the Star City Police Department, she is athletic, comedic and intelligent. But underneath her youthful attitude, lies a woman who has had enough of vigilantes in Star City and is willing to get rid of them no matter what it takes.[12]
- Daniel Porter: He is an intelligent and homosexual technological entrepreneur whose creativity has given him a huge success as a businessman. But having gone through tragic losses in his life is something he hides from the people around him, thus struggling with shaping new relationships with others.[12]
- Konomi Rhodes: "Konomi" is a formidable fighter who ends ups clashing with the heroes of Star City. Her background consists of being a tactician in the military while also carrying on as a street fighter.[12]
- Red Dart: A 30-something woman who is a world-class mercenary who was born to be a leader. Don’t mess with this one because once you see what she has in her toolbox of skills, you will see why those are known across the world. Described as a ruthless and precise killer, she is one of the Longbow Hunters.[23][8]
- Silencer: Described as a diverse woman in her 30s, she is a fierce fighter despite of her smaller stature. Not only is she experienced in stealth, Silencer is able to wipe out buildings filled with foes all by herself before she is gone like a ghost. It will be made very clear that she thinks incredibly highly of her work. She is one of the Longbow Hunters.[23][8]
- Kodiak: A beast of a man with brute force. He is one of the Longbow Hunters.[8]
- Dover: A male in his 30-40s who is teased as a physically intimidating player. Even though he may not be the brightest person in the room, anyone who is in his presence will feel incredibly small.[23]
- Leonard Gibbons/Javelin: A French chemical weapons trader. In the midst of a huge ongoing deal, he does business with an undercover Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific, bringing Team Arrow squarely into the mix.[24]
- John Deegan: A doctor at Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane in Gotham City, but he might just be crazier than the inmates he treats. His machinations will draw Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl to Gotham City.[25]

Trivia
- According to several cast members, there will be a turnover which will introduce several new writers in Season 7.[40][41][42][43][44] But that is not the only major shakeup. On April 17, 2018, in addition to being promoted to executive producer, Beth Schwartz replaced Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle as the sole showrunner. Guggenheim will remain as a consultant to Arrow along with another show he stepped down from, DC's Legends of Tomorrow.[45][46][47]
- David Ramsey will make his directional debut in the upcoming eleventh episode.[48]
- This season will air on Mondays, originally at 9/8c before it was switched back to its original 8/7c time slot.[49]
