The Flash was renewed for a seventh season by The CW on January 7, 2020.[3] It will premiere on March 2, 2021.[1]

  • The "big bad" of this season will be male and his story will be related to Barry and Iris.[8]
  • The real Godspeed will appear[10] and he will be one of the "Big Bads" of this season.[11]
  • Rosa Dillon/Top will return.[11]
  • Iris will escape from the Mirrorverse early on in the season, but being stuck in there will have affected her in some way.[11]
  • Ralph will appear in at least one episode in order to wrap up Sue's storyline. After that storyline wraps up, he will be written off.[8]
  • Sue will appear in multiple episodes after Ralph is written off and help Team Flash in an unexpected way.[8]
  • A "main character" will have a season-long arc that will tie into this season's "Big Bad".[8]
  • Jay Garrick and Joan Williams will return.[12]
  • John Diggle will return.[13]

  • Mark Stevens/Chillblaine: Scientist Mark Stevens is a charismatic bad boy obsessed with cryogenic technology. But when he's not breaking into corporate safes, he's busy breaking hearts with his irresistible charm and roguish style. Armed with his own cold weapons, he'll become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash as the DC Comics villain Chillblaine.[9]

  • On May 13, 2020, showrunner Eric Wallace revealed that the last three episodes of the previous season (episodes 20, 21, and 22), that weren't produced and aired due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will become the first three episodes of this season.[8]
  • On June 8, 2020, Hartley Sawyer was fired from the role of Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man.[19]
    • On August 24, 2020, Eric Wallace revealed in an interview that Ralph will appear in at least one episode, portrayed by a new actor, in order to wrap up Sue's storyline from the previous season. Ralph will then be written off but may return in some form in the future.[20]
