The Flash was renewed for an eighth season by The CW on February 3, 2021.[4] It will premiere on November 16, 2021.[1]

- This season will start with a special "five-episode event" that will feature different heroes and villains from across the Arrowverse and have a crossover-type feel.[2][9]
- Ryan Wilder, Ray Palmer, Jefferson Pierce, Alex Danvers, Mia Queen, Ryan Choi, Eobard Thawne, and Damien Darhk will appear in the crossover.[10]
- One of the new villains this season will be "the biggest and most powerful villain the Flash has yet faced" and will appear early in the season.[11]

- The season began production on August 16, 2021 and is expected to wrap on April 25, 2022.[29]
