History[]
Some time before 49 BC, the Senate restricted Julius Caesar from marching on the Rubicon, but on 49 BC, Caesar defied their orders and caused a civll war.[1]
Conspiracy[]
On March 15, the day known as the Ides of March, 44 BC, the Senate, led by Brutus and Cassius, conspired against Caesar and killed him at the Theatre of Pompey. Prior to his murder, Marcus Antonius attempted to warn Caesar of the Senators' plot, but was intercepted by Trebonius, who kept Marcus outside of the theatre.[1]
