Sol, commonly referred to as the Sun to those in its orbit, is a relatively young yellow star. The sun has at least 8 planets in its orbit, including Earth and Mars, as well as a number of other objects such as the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
History[]
In 2020, as a part of the plotting of Lex Luthor, a Sun-Eater escaped from the Fortress of Solitude on Earth and attempted to consume Sol. However, the Sun-Eater was followed to the star by Supergirl and J'onn J'onzz, and with the assistance of M'gann M'orzz from Mars, the three managed to stop the star from being consumed.[1]
In 2021, following some of the Legends accidentally accepting an invitation to Galaxy Lanes, Earth was removed from Sol's orbit to be used as the prize for a game of cosmic bowling. Upon the Legends winning the game of bowling, Sara Lance returned the planet to its orbit around the star, flying past other planets such as Saturn and Mars.[2]
When Mary Hamilton absorbed solar energy, she became Poison Ivy.[3]
Supergirl tried to absorb energy from the sun using a satelite to concentrate a solar energy beam on her in order to become more powerful and to defeat Nyxly. However, due to the damage she was causing to National City, her plan failed.[4]
