Behind the scenes

  • Sub-Zero is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting video game franchise with the ability to generate ice. Notably, the version shown on Arrow is from Injustice 2 that is based on characters from DC Comics. He is one of the "guest characters" in the game as he is not based on any of DC's properties, and appears as a downloadable character.
  • He is the second MK character in the Injustice franchise after Scorpion, who appeared in the previous entry, and the first MK character to appear in the sequel. The other being Raiden.
  • The snapshot of Sub-Zero's victory pose is based off his infamous and controversial "Spine Rip" fatality except he does it to the cameraman up close while breaking fourth wall.
