I think we can safely assume that the mansion probably never belonged to the original Harrison Wells because that Harrison Wells lived in Starling City and had not yet founded STAR Labs. He likely was not wealthy at that point and could not have afforded the mansion. It is more likely that Eobard (posing as Wells) had the mansion custom-built.

Also, maybe we could add a description of the mansion-- noting key features such as glass roof, etched glass walls, large fireplace in glass, double doors that open electronically, multiple seating areas, a bar, and a room with a hidden compartment where Eobard kept a gun.
