Tavon Singley was a student at Garfield High School.

Tavon attended a student group meeting at Garfield High School with Principal Pierce and other students, jokingly expressing his gratitude at public transport for having gotten him to school. The group was interrupted by police arriving at the school. Shortly following, Tavon and a group of students attempted to stop the police taking Pierce, but they were unsuccessful after Principal Pierce talked him down.[1]

When Jefferson Pierce announced to the pupils that he was stepping down as principal of Garfield High after the attacks on the school, Tavon stood up and asked him where the future was, starting Jefferson's mantra. As Jefferson answered, the student body joined in with Tavon to ask the following questions, leaving Jefferson proud and emotional.[2]
