Temporal disruptions are wormholes allowing the ability to travel forwards or backwards in time. These disruptions often occur randomly in outer space under unknown circumstances.
History[]
In 2017, Mon-El used Kara Zor-El's pod to escape the Earth's atmosphere into space following the Daxamite invasion when Lena Luthor and Supergirl released lead, which was fatal to all Daxamites, into the atmosphere. Once he had entered space, a temporal disruption sucked him through inside. Because of this, Mon-El arrived a millennium later, in the 31st century, when he then created the Legion alongside Imra Ardeen and Querl Dox.[1]
The Legion's trip into the past[]
In the 31st century, Mon-El, Imra, and Brainy knew about these temporal disruptions and how they can be used to travel backwards and forwards in time. During that time, the Blight, an evolved version of Pestilence, one of the Worldkillers, had spread across the world, killing millions of people, including Preya Ardeen, Imra's sister.[2] They needed to stop this virus and the only way to stop it is by stopping it in the past which was in Imra's and Brainy's intentions, however, Mon-El did not know about this because they didn't want him not think about his previous experiences and feelings connected during Supergirl's time.[3]
They needed to enter one of these wormholes in the Legion's cruiser in order to travel into the past, resulting in them stranded 10,000 years in the past. They decided to enter cryosleep in their chambers, in hopes of someone finding and rescuing them. Soon enough, Supergirl and the D.E.O. found a mysterious ship that sinked onto the bottom of the ocean which Winn stated that it was made of an element that didn't exist and that it had been there for 10,000 years. When Supergirl and J'onn went to investigate, they found Mon-El and several other people in cryosleep. They took him back to the D.E.O where he then explained what happened.[4]
Reign's final battle[]
During Reign's final battle with Supergirl and her team, along with the Children of Juru in the Fortress of Sanctuary, after only Reign and Supergirl were left to fight, as Reign brought Supergirl up to her neck, she surrendered, which she then took Mon-El's Legion ring and ran back to the D.E.O.. She asked Alex and Winn to find a temporal disruption. She then used Mon-El's legion ring to fly up into space due to the oxygen independence that the ring had granted her where she then flew into the wormhole. Whilst in the disruption, she saw memories of her with her friends and family, similar to how speedsters run through the Speed Force. After traveling back in time, she saw herself back again in the Fortress of Sanctuary, where Reign had her surrendered.[5]
Anti-Monitor Crisis[]
Shortly before Argo City was destroyed by antimatter, Clark Kent and Lois Lane evacuated their son, Jonathan to his pod with help from Alura Zor-El. Jonathan's pod took off just seconds before the city perished. Though his evacuation was successful, the antimatter knocked Jonathan's pod off-course and he entered a temporal disruption, which in turn landed him in 2046 on Earth-16.[6] Although temporal disruptions allow people to travel through time, this one allowed Jonathan to travel through time and into another universe; it is possible that due to the wave of antimatter that was spreading across the universe of Earth-38 at the time may have had a role in this as the barriers of every earth of the multiverse were weakening as the universe was being wiped out by the wave which may have made the barriers between the two universes weak and therefore easy to travel from one to the other with no difficulty.

Trivia[]
- The way Supergirl travels through the temporal disruption is similar to how speedsters run through the Speed Force; they see memories of their life appearing throughout, as a guide to pick when they will leave.
