GUILT – Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and Thunder (Nafessa Williams) return to South Freeland in an attempt to figure out what is going on. When they arrive, they are directed to a nearby wood where they are surrounded by a clan of mixed-race moonshiners called the Perdi. Plot[]
Peter Gambi is revealed to have survived the attack on him and subsequent car crash by using a hidden floor panel in his vehicle. He tracks down one of the assassins sent after him and tortures him for information before finally killing him.
Following the deaths of the pod children, Lynn Stewart announces it to the assembled families but can give no details on which children died, leaving the families angry and despondent at the lack of answers.
In South Freeland, Anissa tracks down Anaya's family and learns that they are the Perdi, a group of black people who live in the woods. The other residents of South Freeland are the Sange, white people who are controlled by a meta-human known as Looker. Looker forbids the Sange from associating with the Perdi, which was broken when Deacon began a relationship with Anaya.
Anaya gives birth to twins, one black and one white. When they look at each other, their eyes glow. Anissa believes that they are in danger remaining in South Freeland and wants to get them to safety.
In Freeland, Councilman Kwame Parker tries to get Reverend Jeremiah Holt to relocate the free clinic. Holt refuses and tells Parker he knows that the money is coming from Tobias Whale. The black community of Freeland has known about Whale controlling the underworld for years. Tobias doesn't take kindly to the refusal and sends Khalil to kill the reverend. Khalil begins to realize that Tobias was ultimately behind the attack that paralyzed him and decides not to kill Holt, but does warn him to leave Freeland. After visiting Jennifer and telling her that this could be the last meeting, Khalil attacks Tobias but is soundly defeated.
As Anissa prepares to evacuate the Perdi, they are attacked by the Sange. Jefferson arrives and helps to defend the Perdi, and Anissa manages to get away with one of the babies and Anaya, but the other is kidnapped. Jefferson follows the Element that flows out of the dead Sange back to Looker.
At Looker's home, the baby is presented to her and she attempts to remove the Element from the child. It fails, and she orders the Sange to bring her the other child.
