Trivia

  • The title references the final entry in The Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, which also sees a superhero battle his fear and grow stronger.
  • After seeing his father writing "Henry Allen was here" on the wall of the jail cell, Barry writes "So was Barry". A possible nod to "Brooks was here"; "So was Red" from the 1994 Crime-Drama, The Shawshank Redemption.
    • When Barry met Axel and said that he was innocent, Axel replied that everyone there was innocent. Another possible reference to the scene from the movie where Red met Andy.
  • While trying to come up with a superhero name while talking to the suicide bomber, Ralph references to two Marvel Comics Superheroes.
    • He says "It's your friendly neighborhood superhero," referencing Spider-Man.
    • He continues that phrase with "Mister..." but stops there, referencing Mister Fantastic, a Marvel superhero with similar powers.
      • It's a parallel to a similar situation back in Flash vs. Arrow when Iris asked the Flash what his real name was and the reply was Ralph coincidentally Elongated Man's civilian first name.
  • The Mystery Girl, who first appeared at Barry and Iris's wedding, returned at the end of the episode, interacting with Ralph and Cisco. Later on, she is seen writing in a diary using the same "language" Barry used while writing on the walls in "The Flash Reborn".
  • When Ralph got burnt by the Axid, Cisco says that he would not have got the burn if he had xenomorph blood as in "Alien". A reference to the 1979 movie, Alien.
  • This is one of the only non-Supergirl episodes to have a reference to Supergirl without being a crossover. The other one is Dead or Alive.
  • Axel calls Ralph "strong-arm stretch Armstrong" as a reference to the action figure Stretch Armstrong which could've been released by Jame Jesse and Zoey Clark's toy brand.
  • Prank uses Beebo to illustarte the "Axid Shower". Beebo also appeared in DC's Legends of Tomorrow episode "Beebo the God of War".
