The League is a team of vigilantes that was founded by Barry Allen following the conclusion of the Anti-Monitor Crisis in honor of Oliver Queen, who sacrificed himself to give birth to the new multiverse. While Oliver is not an official member due to him not surviving to see its formation, he is considered by the other heroes to be one because of his noble sacrifice.

Overview[]

The League is a succession to both the Trinity and the Paragons. It is a team of 7 heroes of Earth-Prime including Barry Allen/The Flash, Kara Danvers/Supergirl, J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter, Kate Kane/Batwoman, Clark Kent/Superman, Sara Lance/White Canary and Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, as well as their honorary member, Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The team was created to protect Earth from anyone who means to cause it harm, but is too powerful for one hero to handle on their own.

The members of this team have teamed up on numerous occasions in various numbers and forms.[1] However, following the Anti-Monitor Crisis and the birth of the new multiverse, the members, after having a private farewell service for Oliver Queen, officially created a pact to protect Earth from anyone who means to cause it harm.[2]

At some point after the team's founding, Nate Heywood/Steel asked if he could join the team, but he never received a response.[3]

After a fight with Faust, the team set up the Injustice Protocols to protect the world if one of them went rogue.[4]

Armageddon[]

Jefferson Pierce prepares to take away Barry Allen's powers.

Barry Allen reached out to Jefferson Pierce and he asked Jefferson to meet him at the Hall of Justice.[5] Once Jefferson arrived, Barry asked him to take away his powers. Jefferson suggested talking to Kara Danvers, J'onn J'onzz, and Sara Lance first, but Barry told him there was no time. He then told Jefferson that he wasn't going to get better and begged Jefferson to take away his powers.

When Jefferson realized that Barry was asking him to take away his powers because of something Despero said, Jefferson said that they could change the future. Barry disagreed with him and told him that getting rid of his speed was the only way to save the world. Barry then fought Jefferson, but stopped after they accidentally destroyed Oliver Queen's memorial and Jefferson rebuked Barry for not believing in himself the same way that Oliver did. When Despero appeared, Jefferson held him off after Iris West-Allen and Deon Owens revealed that Barry was innocent and someone had changed the timeline to make him seem insane. Barry then went to the future to see who really caused Armageddon.[4]

Calling the League[]

After Barry found Iris and Nia Nal in a deep REM sleep that they couldn't be woken up from, he considered calling the League for help.[6]

In a possible future, in 2049, after Magog and his allies were defeated, the League gathered at the Hall of Justice where the Spectre suddenly appeared and warned them about an upcoming threat.[7]

"We never catch him?"
"Supergirl, the Legends, even The League tried, but no one was successful."

  • The team is based on the Justice League. While the founding members in the Arrowverse are the Flash, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, Batwoman, Superman, White Canary, and Black Lightning, the classic founding members in the comics are Aquaman, Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman and Wonder Woman.
  • The team having contingency plans to protect the world if one of them goes rogue is similar to the contingency plans that Batman has in the DC comics in case any members of the Justice League go rogue.
