"The Wrath of Savitar" is the fifteenth episode of the third season of The Flash, and the sixty-first episode overall. It aired on March 7, 2017.

Synopsis[]

Plot[]

The scene starts with Barry, Wally, and Jesse in a race. Back at STAR Labs, it's shown that the trio is in an instructional course attempting to get Wally's speed sufficiently quick to prevent Savitar from executing Iris.

The team meets in the cellar of STAR Labs, and Barry and Iris choose to break the news that they've gotten engaged. Most of the gathering is very happy with the news, but Joe takes Barry aside and asks why Barry didn't ask his permission to propose. Before Barry gets an opportunity to reply, Cisco tells them a fire is in progress and his assistance is required somewhere else.

While in transit to the fire, Wally is sideswiped by Savitar and tossed into a vehicle. Barry thinks back and sees Wally via vehicle, however doesn't realize that Savitar was there until Wally uncovers that is who assaulted.

At Team Flash HQ, an irritated Barry lashes out at Wally for staying quiet about the Savitar dreams for longer than seven days. Barry gets sufficiently agitated to where he expels Wally from the group until they make sense of what's happening.

The team needs to use similar equipment on Julian that they recently used on Joe to connect with Grodd's psyche; and a reluctant Julian at last consents after some influence from Caitlin and the two offer a kiss.

The team connects Julian to the machine and Savitar starts talking through Julian and it's uncovered that either Savitar or Iris can live — not both. A noticeably shaken Barry strolls to Julian and disconnects the machine.

The gathering catches satellite imagery of a potential Savitar sighting and when Barry gets to the area, he sees a group of acolytes worshipping a statue of Savitar. Barry sees the container they recently caught the Philosopher's Stone in, he realizes neither the stone or Savitar are in the box.

Barry returns the box to STAR Labs for Cisco to test and HR can be seen preparing Wally to make him ever quicker. HR and Wally approach Cisco about vibing them to the future with the goal that Wally can see the circumstance where Savitar murders Iris. At the point when Wally leaves the vibe, he speeds into where Barry and Iris are sitting and hollers at Barry to come clean with him concerning why he proposed to Iris.

Barry uncovers that he proposed to Iris in light of the fact that later on where she is killed, she isn't wearing a wedding band. A justifiably disturbed Iris leaves the room and tells Barry that she needs to consider their future.

At the point when the remainder of the gathering leaves the room, Caitlin uncovers to Julian that she kept piece of the Philosopher's Stone and Julian breaks the news to the remainder of the gathering. At the point when they understand that it's completely conceivable that Savitar can be back on Earth, as a component of the Philosopher's Stone is situated there, Barry convinces Julian to permit the group to bring Savitar through him by and by.

Barry starts teasing Savitar enough to the point that the Cisco can get an area of Savitar — he's some place in Central City.

At the West home, Jesse and Wally have a conversation where Wally uncovers he feels wrong on the grounds that he was placed into a coocoon by the Philosopher's Stone while Jesse got her powers from the dark matter explosion directly. As Jesse goes to hold Wally, Wally sees his mom sitting on the entry stairway. Wally walks towards the illusion and goes to embrace her and it's shown from Jesse's perspective that nobody is there. Wally's mother transforms into Savitar and Wally dashes off soon after telling Jesse that he needs to prevent Savitar from getting away.

At Barry and Iris' condo, the two start to discuss their future. Iris uncovers her feelings that she wouldn't like to simply be somebody that Barry's saving, but someone he wants to marry for love.

Back at STAR Labs, the team learns that the future Barry has caught Savitar in the Speed Force and determine he cannot escape without the full Philosopher's Stone. Jesse speeds in to tell the team that Wally hurried off to battle Savitar and when they check on the fragment of the Stone, they find it's gone.

Wally is seen opening up a passageway to the Speed Force and when Barry arrives, Wally is sucked in and the entrance closes. It at that point reopens and Savitar climbs out.

When Barry confronts Savitar about the location of Wally, Savitar takes note of that Wally is lost in the Speed Force until the end of time. A battle results on which the two are evenly matched until Savitar stabs Barry in his collar bone shattering it. Barry phases his hand and cuts Savitar's blade limb off.

Barry's raced back to STAR Labs where the group pulls the bit of metal from Barry and patches him up. The scene closes with the vast majority of Team Flash at a loss for words with no sign of how to get Wally back.

Trivia[]

  • H.R. once again welcomes Julian as "James", referencing the British spy James Bond.
  • After Wally is treated for his injuries, Cisco claims that trouble "never stops never stopping". This is possibly a reference to the 2016 film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
  • H.R. attempts to pull everyone together by calling the four guys the "Four Amigos", apparently referencing a movie on Earth-19. This itself is a reference to the 1986 film ¡Three Amigos!.
  • Cisco refers to Julian as Linda Blair, referencing the actress' role as the possessed child Regan MacNeil in the 1973 film The Exorcist and its sequel.
  • When Barry asks Savitar why they're enemies, he replies through Julian, "Because we had to be, only one of us could live." This closely resembles the prophecy from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: "Either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives."
  • Julian refers to himself as "Judas" when he talks about the one that could possibly betray the team. Judas Iscariot was the one who betrayed Jesus Christ to the Romans. Tom Felton had a role in the 2016 movie Risen, which was centered around the story of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion.
  • This was the first episode where Savitar's appearance was not CGI and a practical suit was introduced.
  • When Wally was hallucinating Savitar to which the hallucination of Savitar becomes Barry as the Flash, it foreshadows his true identity as an evil future version of Barry in the episode "I Know Who You Are".
  • The showdown between Wally and Savitar takes place at the old Kob Factory. David Kob serves as story editor on the show.

Goofs[]

  • Joe asks why Barry didn't ask for his blessing; however, in the previous episode, it's revealed that Joe held on to the ring after Nora Allen passed away. This means that Barry must have asked Joe for the ring, which would have suggested that he was going to propose to Iris. Therefore, Joe should have known.
