  • Several of the admins have decided to try an editing project we are dubbing as "Dead Week." Our intent is for this first week to be a trial basis and then hopefully we can continue this project in the future. Our first "Dead Week" will begin on May 31, 2019 and end on June 4, 2019 June 1, 2019. Please see Arrowverse Wiki:Dead Week for all of the specifics on this particular project. Also, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. It is better to ask for help on something rather than to make a mess of things.

As stated in the Dead Week page itself, please post here a title that you are done clearing so it can be removed from the list.

EDIT: DEAD WEEK IS NOW LIVE. DEAD WEEK IS NOW FINISHED.

    • What is Dead week

        Loading editor
    • Could you explain how the "dead" stuff works, I'm pretty sure I understand what I'm going to end up doing for the next five days (cause I have experience doing this dumb stuff) but I'm unsure how you are "killing" the templates.

        Loading editor
    • The templates will not link to their intended location, they will instead link to the Dead Week page. This is so that we can find the pages that do not link to where they are supposed to. Once the project is live, it will make more sense. The important thing to remember and catch from other users is to not take away our Ep-like template links. They normally link to the appropriate page, but we are "killing" these this week and they will not be linking how they should. But again, this is temporary and they will link how they should once the project is over.

        Loading editor
    • For example, if you write {{Ep|The Quest for Peace}}, it should direct you to the page "The Quest for Peace". It always does, but it won't this week. It will instead direct you to the Dead Week page.

This is so that we can look at the "What links here" page and find all of the direct links to "The Quest for Peace" that is not done so using the Ep template.

        Loading editor
    • So basically anyone posting these templates should have their placement undone until further notice?

        Loading editor
    • No. What is going to happen is some user is going to click on {{Ep|The Quest for Peace}} and see that it won't link to "The Quest for Peace" and then go and edit it to be "[[The Quest for Peace]]" which is the opposite of what we want according to the Manual of Style. So we as users need to be on the lookout for people who do this and turn it back to {{Ep|The Quest for Peace}}.

Note however, since this is just a trial run, we aren't killing the Ep template this round (it is our biggest one). Just Com, Web, Bk, Cross, and the others listed on the Dead Week page will be affected.

        Loading editor
    • Whenever we kill the Ep template we should make sure its also not near the time news might be announced, cause that would not be fun.

        Loading editor
    • Correct. We will want to avoid new content at all costs.

        Loading editor
    • Got it now.

        Loading editor
    • What templates are you killing right now?

They have a list on the dead week page.

    • fandom is a great site fandom has a lot if stuff to loook at

    • As an example, I just checked the first two pages on the list. The only mainspace pages that link to them are the Dead Week page. Thus those links are already using the template we want to be used. So, I am coming to this thread to say that "The Quick and The Dead" and "Meet Kid Flash" have been cleared.

        Loading editor
    • Finished checking all crossovers. If anyone is paying attention to the Recent changes they can note that there were quite a few instances where users had linked to Elseworlds without using the appropriate template according to the Manual of Style. This is why we are doing this project. Now that Template:Cross is alive again, you can go check the hover feature and see that it is working once again and now we are aligning with our Manual of Style.

    • The {{Arrow (comic book series)}} Template has several links to comic books that are making fixing the links much harder, they are counted by inclusion but we can’t fix it (there are likely other templates as well doing this, it’s just the first I noticed).

Thank you for letting me know. This can happen because of cache not clearing yet. There are no links to pages on that template (now). I would suggest letting that category wait for now and moving on to maybe a different comic book series until the cache can clear. Let me know if you see this continuing on others.

I would like to help you, but I don't understand your post. This was our project from a previous year. The project for this year's link is Arrowverse Wiki:Dead Week.

        Loading editor
    • You need to clean the links in that thread

        Loading editor
    • I now understand. This is because you are looking at all links under what links here. I would encourage you to follow the instructions on the Dead Week page which say to switch the Namespace to "Main" instead of the default "(all)"

This will remove links given in blogs, forum posts, and user pages.

        Loading editor
    • A lot of comics pages are fixed

        Loading editor
    • Alright! These templates are all back alive. How does everyone feel about trying Ep for the rest of this time period? Ep has a lot more uses and it handles the majority of our links. So this is really where we are going to see users trying to "correct" what they view as a mistake.

      Any thoughts?

        Loading editor
    • I’m fine with that, wow you went through this all very fast (because you did practically all the work it seems.

Honestly, most of the comics and webisodes were already covered very well. I did not do too much other than go through and check. There were quite a few that just had one or two pages to change. Episodes will be different, however. We have a lot of these that will need to be changed.

A lot of the activity I believe you are referring to on my part was doing another task by making sure that our images in the "Category:Images from *episode name*" were formatted the correct way. As you can tell, they were not. But that was a majority of my activity.

    • Ep is about to be dead. Please be on alert; we need to watch all the edits to make sure style is not being taken away. As well, if you clear something, please let us know here on this thread.

    • I'm having trouble clearing the links from crew member pages, and I'm not sure why that would be the case. I think something about adding that second parameter seems to make a false positive?

Also, how should we handle in-text links where it's like, linking to the other episode indirectly? Such as on the An Innocent Man page where it links to Lone Gunmen in the summary but not in a typical way. Should I just let it be or?

For the first inquiry, I don't understand what you mean. What we noticed earlier in the day is that sometimes pages appear when they shouldn't because the cache hasn't cleared yet. What you can do is try to edit the page, press publish (without changing anything), refresh the "What links here" page and hope that it is gone. If this has nothing to do with what you're asking, please send me a particular example like you did with the second inquiry.

For the second inquiry, that shouldn't be a link anyway. If anything, that needs to be as a reference right after the statement instead of a direct link to the episode. I have just removed the link.

      Hope this helps.

    • Awesome. Finished clearing season 1 of Arrow.

        Loading editor
    • Awesome! thank you. I will mark it down

        Loading editor
    • And Arrow season 2 too now. I edit fast.

        Loading editor
    • All crossover episodes are done. I noticed a difference that they had that others didn't in which we won't change the format.

It is recorded on the Dead Week page.

        Loading editor
    • That latest edit to the dead week page seems to have um, broken most of the scrollboxes.

        Loading editor
    • Season 3 done.

        Loading editor
    • Awesome. I will mark this as cleared. I am taking a break for today; I will be back tomorrow.

        Loading editor
    • I have finished off season 4 and will now be disappearing for about 12 hours for sleepins time.

        Loading editor
    • Supergirl season 3 is done. Continuing now to season 4 :)

        Loading editor
    • Season 4 is done as well, minus the last page on this list (Fulvio Cecere), where I'm having a little bit of trouble identifying the problem. Can someone look? Other than that, Supergirl is clean.

    • Same goes for season one of Legends of Tomorrow, minus the two page on this list (The Flash: Season Zero and Matt Versteeg), where I'm, again, having a little bit of trouble identifying the problem. Can someone look?

      https://arrow.fandom.com/index.php?title=Special%3AWhatLinksHere&target=Marooned&namespace=0

Matt Versteeg's page appear throughout the entire season, so whoever indetify the problem should apply the solution on all the season 1 episodes. After that, the season will be cleared.

    • Season 4 of Legends of Tomorrow is done, continuing to season 3 :)

        Loading editor
    • Season 2 is done, leaving Legends of Tomorrow officially clean :) Will take a break now, but will return later to work on The Flash, if it would still needed by then.

        Loading editor
    • Arrow is done! The only show left to do is The Flash! Good job, everyone! Thanks so much for helping this wiki be more consistent!

        Loading editor
    • Of course, it's been fun :) Season 5 of The Flash is cleared, by the way, I just finished going through it.

        Loading editor
    • You guys are all doing great!

        Loading editor
    • Aaand I finished clearing seasons 1-4 of The Flash, so looks like we're done with the Ep template...?

        Loading editor
    • Yes, good job everyone! I will turn the template back on and we can sit back and relax.

        Loading editor
    • Also, hm, this event is going until June 41st? Are you sure?

        Loading editor
    • No, lol. I put a strikethrough on the 4 but now that you remind me, a strikethrough on a 4 just looks like a 4.
