Did anyone else notice something just slightly odd when Henry Allen shook hands with Dr. Wells and said it was nice to meet him "again". There was just a flicker of something in Wells' face but he didn't say anything. That, combined with the line about fishing made me think that Henry might be Zoom. Maybe E2 Henry became Zoom or Zoom stole the body of either E1 or E2 Henry.
If he is Zoom, why he would be helping out is a puzzle-- unless he's trying to gain Barry's trust while spying on him. If Zoom stole Henry's body, then he would have the memories. It's entirely possible that he was only pretending that he was going to kill Barry and allowed himself to be shot by Cisco, but I don't know to what end.
Did Grodd get bigger after Wells injected him? I mean, Wells got bitchslapped by him and then walked right up and jabbed him with the needles-- but later on when Grodd showed up, Wells said "That is one big gorilla!" as if he were surprised or something.
Btw, I did love the bit where he says "We don't need Caitlin anymore" and you can see she thinks he's going to say to kill her, but then he winked at her. But when Grodd called him out as not being the real Wells, I loved his "oh shit" face. And he just stood there sort of frozen.
I also liked the bit with Cisco coaching him on how to do the impression of E1 Wells. For some reason, Cisco saying "Up the creep factor" and "be more sincere, like you really love me, but you're gonna have to kill me anyway". I think in some ways Cisco actually got warm fuzzies from being told he was like a son to Wells, but it still creeped him out.
I don't know how Grodd was supposed to keep up with Barry when Barry ran away at superspeed. The smarter thing to do would to have slapped a tracking device on him and move slower so Grodd could keep up, while keeping an eye on where he was.
Henry said he was in an area with no cell signal-- so how was Iris able to contact him? If he's not Zoom, what is he hiding? Is he terminally ill?
I know the writers wanted to have the supersonic punch scene, but wouldn't it have made much more sense to tell Grodd that if he went through the portal willingly, there would be others like him? If Grodd didn't fall for it, THEN they could have knocked him in, but if they at least gave him the option of going willingly, it would have been nice.
The scenes with Patty are just painful at this point. She's supposed to be a detective. She probably knows that The Flash turned up shortly after Barry woke from his coma. She knows Joe is in touch with the Flash. Barry claims to be "sick" right after The Flash is scene being paraded around town like a macabre ragdoll by Zoom. Then she catches that both Barry and Joe are lying to her. If she doesn't at least suspect he's the Flash then she's an idiot. Maybe she figured it out but is waiting for him to tell her and is seeing just how much BS he'll pour on.
I think he needs to either tell her the truth or cut her loose. Did he learn nothing from Iris? Oh, and he just told Linda... It makes no sense.
I did enjoy this episode though.
