A time courier is device resembling a wristwatch that is used by agents of the Time Bureau on Earth-1. It allows the user to transport themselves through time and space without the need of a timeship.
As this does not involve going through the temporal zone, there are no side-effects from traveling through time. A time courier can still be used to travel between locations in the temporal zone, as seen when Gary Green uses it to teleport from the Waverider onto the Time Bureau mothership.[1]
History[]
After Rip Hunter founded the Time Bureau, they created time couriers to use in their missions. They for instance used them to open large portals for the misplaced dinosaurs in present day Los Angeles to walk through and get back to their native time periods.[2]
After the Legends were allowed to continue to fix the timeline, they also began to use time couriers in several of their missions[3][4] after Mick Rory managed to swipe one from Rip.[2] Sara Lance used the time courier to save Time Bureau agent Ava Sharpe from the attacking saber-toothed tiger, although Ava questioned where she had gotten it from, accusing her of using stolen property.[5]
When fighting pirates in 1717, Nate Heywood and Ray Palmer stole Ava's time courier while she was busy arguing with Sara and opened a portal to the Island with the pirates. After leaving, the portal remained open and was found by Blackbeard and his crew, who used it to board the Waverider.[6]
A person's time courier stores a record of all locations and times they have travelled to. After suspecting Ava was hiding something, Sara stole her time courier and looked through her log with Gary and Ray, finding that Ava's first mission in Vancouver, 2213 seemed out of the ordinary.[7]
After officially joining the Time Bureau, Nate began using a time courier as his main means of transportation through time.[8][9]
After being framed for helping a magical fugitive escape the Time Bureau, Mona Wu manipulated Gary into giving her his time courier after flashing him with his own memory flasher. After finding the kaupe, she used it to keeping himself by pushing him through a portal and then closing it by stepping on the time courier when they were being followed.[10]
