For the eponymous character, see Harrison Wells (Earth-1).
"Look, every second that we leave these forces inside Deon and Psych, people are in danger. It's only a matter of time before someone dies in one of Psych's nightmares or gets killed by some kind of Deon time anomaly. Not to mention Nora declared war. She doesn’t care how many people she kills as long as the forces die."
Barry Allen

"Timeless" is the ninth episode of the seventh season of The Flash, and the one-hundred-forty-second episode overall. It aired on May 11, 2021.

Synopsis

Plot

The birth of the Forces of Nature.

Seventeen days ago, as the Speed Force was revived, Timeless Wells removed his glasses when he saw something unusual;[1] the Flash and Wells himself had just teleported into S.T.A.R. Labs and had gone to the roof to see the birth of the other Forces of Nature.

Yesterday, Alexa Rivera was killed by the Speed Force who tells Barry and Iris that it will hunt down the other Forces of Nature to protect itself and will kill the hosts as well if it must.

Presently, Cisco Ramon and Kamilla Hwang have a breakfast date at Jitters where she tells him that she has an opportunity in San Francisco in photography; on that subject, Cisco gives Kamilla a camera that can identify the Forces of Nature so that she will not be surprised if she encounters one.

Barry has a meeting with Team Flash and has decided that he will go back in time and stop the birth of the Forces in order to save the lives of the hosts. Iris West-Allen disagrees with this tactic, thinking that Barry should talk to the Speed Force and convince it to stand down; Barry is adamant, causing Iris to have a meeting with Team Citizen to use Kamilla's camera to find the Speed Force.

Chester P. Runk and Cisco theorize that time travel will not work correctly in this case, so Barry goes to Star City, 2000, and asks for help from Timeless Wells since he is an expert. As Timeless, Chester, and Cisco work on the Tachyon prototype that could be used to destroy the Forces without destroying Barry's powers, Deon Owens appears. Barry explains to Deon his plan; Deon becomes irate and declares himself a god because he and the Still Force are one. Deon then attempts to destroy the prototype before disappearing but Chester saves it. Cisco understands Deon's desire to keep his powers, but ultimately, Cisco decides that he will stand with his best friend.

Team Citizen ultimately goes to the Allen house, but, instead of finding the Speed Force, they find Psych. Iris tries to talk civilly with Psych about the threat of the Speed Force, but he uses the Sage Force against Kamilla and Allegra Garcia for fun. When he uses his power against Iris, Psych is not as successful as she is able to resist him and focuses on their conversation.

Timeless and the Flash go back in time and see the birth of the Forces. Barry begins using the prototype to kill the Forces, but the beauty of watching their birth overwhelms him. Barry destroys the prototype and returns to 2020.

The Speed Force threatens Deon.

That moment in time when Barry almost killed the Forces weakened Psych's hold on Team Citizen, allowing them to flee. That same moment made all of the hosts blink out of existence, but they returned.

Iris and Barry apologize to one another for not working together and not talking to each other before pursuing a plan. Suddenly, the building quakes. Caitlin Snow tells Iris and Barry that Alexa was animated for a second when the quake occurred. As a unified couple, Barry and Iris touch the body of Alexa, sending a spark which returns her to life.

After Timeless talks to Cisco and returns to 2000, Cisco and Kamilla decide that they are leaving together.

The Speed Force finds Deon and threatens him.

  • It's confirmed that 17 days have passed since "Mother".
  • Deon slips completely off the deep end, calling himself a god because of his powers, making him like Reverb and Savitar.

  • This episode confirms that during the rebirth of the speed force, Harrison saw his and Barry's future selves.
  • Before Deon stops time for the second time, Barry tries to call out his name but only get's out "Deo-" This may be a reference to Dio Brando, a character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, whose ability is to stop time.
