Dr. Christina "Tina" McGee is a physicist and the head of Mercury Labs, and a former close friend of Harrison Wells.
Biography[]
Original multiverse[]
Early life[]
Tina McGee originally lived in Starling City where she was a promising young scientist, along with her close friend Harrison Wells,[1] who she met sometime before 1995.[2] However, the two drifted apart after Harrison's noticeable change in demeanor following his girlfriend Tess Morgan's death in 2000. Tina eventually founded Mercury Labs, a rival company to S.T.A.R. Labs.[1]
Tachyon theft[]
After the Reverse-Flash broke into Mercury Labs, Tina was summoned down to the police station to talk to Barry Allen. Barry informed that they will use her tachyon prototype as a lure for its prior thief, but she declined. After they attempted to have a court order from a judge, Dr. McGee returned to the police department to forcefully decline. Barry threatened to release information about her inventions, and she pleaded to giving them the tachyon prototype within the hour. The prototype was ultimately stolen by Reverse-Flash, and thus never returned.[3]
Target of revenge[]
Some months following, employees of Mercury Labs were killed. Dr. McGee was able to assist Barry and company in the right direction of Brie Larvan. Believing her to be next, they offered protection, but she declined. Sure enough, Tina was targeted by Larvan, angry for having been fired due to a harmful nature. Brie sent robotic bees after her, poised to kill, but they were redirected at the Atom. She later came by the Central City Police Department and thanked Barry. She apologized to Barry for not taking the offer of protection. Before she left, Barry questioned her about her relationship with Harrison Wells, and she noted that Wells had in fact changed dramatically following Tess's death.[1]
Break-in[]
Some months later, she was talking to a co-worker on finding a replacement for Caitlin Snow when Applied Sciences was broken into. When Tina ran into the building behind her security guards she was shocked to see the intruder was Harry Wells. Tina called Joe West and Patty Spivot and complained of the break-in.[2]
Held hostage[]
A few months later, Mercury Labs was broken into yet again and Tina was approached by the Reverse-Flash again telling her she was coming along. Reverse-Flash's break-in was briefly interrupted by the Flash's arrival revealing Reverse-Flash to be Eobard Thawne but Reverse-Flash still managed to kidnap Tina. Thawne took Tina to an off-site facility where Thawne had built a tachyon device but needed her to finish it. Tina remembered Reverse-Flash's break in the previous year trying to steal Tachyons but Tina wasn't aware that Thawne was from an earlier time period and hadn't stolen the device yet, inadvertently revealing future information to Thawne. Thawne ordered Tina to build the device or die.
Original timeline: After Tina finished her work, Eobard killed her anyway and returned to the future.
Current timeline: After Tina finished her work, Eobard prepared to kill her anyway but Flash arrived and stopped Thawne and Tina fled the scene.[4]
Revealing her knowledge[]
When Black Siren attacked Mercury Labs and destroyed the building, Tina and her co-workers were saved by the Flash and she thanked Flash by revealing that she knows Flash's true identity claiming that she isn't stupid. Shortly after, she is brought to S.T.A.R. Labs where she meets Harry Wells and Henry Allen (with whom she seems to have an instant connection) and gets filled in about Earth-2. Later, she is seen at a get together at the West house and witnesses Henry get taken by Zoom.[5]
Helping Team Flash[]
After Barry was imprisoned by the Speed Force, Tina helped Cisco to modify the Speed Force bazooka and use a Quark Sphere to release Barry.[6]
Anti-Monitor Crisis[]
During the Anti-Monitor Crisis, Tina as well as everyone in the multiverse except for the seven Paragons, was killed in an antimatter wave by the Anti-Monitor on December 10, 2019,[7] only to be restored a month later, after the Paragons and the Spectre created a new universe.[8]
New multiverse[]
In the new multiverse, Tina is still the director of the Mercury Labs.
In March 2020, Tina agreed to an interview with Mirror Iris West-Allen and Mirror Kamilla Hwang, but they were interrupted when Sunshine broke into Mercury Labs.[9]
Personality[]
Tina was a good friend of Harrison Wells. This suggests that Tina, like Harrison, is a kind person who chooses to be a scientist to help humanity rather than for personal glory, like Simon Stagg. Though she is initially shown to be quite territorial with her company's inventions and quite distrusting of the CCPD, it is later revealed that her behavior had little to do with the police and more to do with the fact that the police work with Eobard Thawne, believing Thawne to be her former friend who she no longer trusts nor sees as a friend. However, she is later shown more trusting of Joe West and the rest of CCPD after they had outed Thawne as a murderer and allows full access to her labs after there was a break-in involving Harry Wells.
Tina is very kind and nurturing to her employees, praising them when their work produces incredible results and even shown to be understanding such as when Caitlin Snow left Mercury Labs to go back to S.T.A.R. Labs, simply making a passing comment that the lab needs to hire a replacement for Caitlin. As such, her present and former employees, such as Caitlin, hold her in very high regard. In fact, Caitlin is shown to be noticeably more upset than rest of Team Flash when Cisco Ramon vibed that Dr. McGee had been killed by Thawne. Fortunately, the vision was of the future, not the present, and the Flash manages to save the good doctor before Thawne could carry out the deed.
It is eventually revealed that Tina had deduced a while ago that Barry Allen was the Flash, when she said "Thank You Mr. Allen" to the speedster. She also learns that Harry is her late friend's counterpart and it is implied he explains to her what happened with the Earth-1 Harrison Wells. She then assists Team Flash in their war against the Earth-2 meta-humans and is also shown at the dinner party at Joe's house, talking with Henry Allen.
Abilities[]
- Genius-level intellect/Great business acumen/Leader: Tina is extremely intelligent and is a remarkably skilled businessman and leader, as she was able to found and run Mercury Labs with great efficiency, it becoming prominent enough to be considered a rival of S.T.A.R. Labs. She is also highly perceptive, having been able to partially see through Eobard's guise of Harrison Wells, knowing he wasn't himself, and was described as "thick as thieves".
- Master scientist/Physicist: Tina is an exceptional scientist and physicist. She was masterful in tachyon technology, having created a Tachyon prototype and later a tachyon device for Eobard to return home. She was also a key helper to Cisco in his modifications of the Speed Force bazooka and use of a Quark Sphere to release Barry.

- In the DC comics, Tina McGee is a nutritionist and researcher for S.T.A.R. Labs. She is also a keen supporter of Wally West, the third Flash.
- Amanda Pays previously portrayed Tina McGee in the 1990's The Flash, in which John Wesley Shipp played the titular character. This Tina talking with Henry could refer to her marriage with Barry in that series.
