Vita is a dark priestess and former member of the Children of Juru. She joined Selena and Ayala to resurrect Reign and terraform Earth into "New Krypton". However, they were defeated by Supergirl and her team. Vita and the coven were arrested and taken back to Argo City by Alura Zor-El to face justice for their crimes.
In the new multiverse, Vita recorded her knowledge into a crystal, which later made its way to the Fortress of Solitude.
Biography[]
Original multiverse[]
Early life[]
On Krypton, Vita was a member of the Children of Juru, a coven dedicated to creating "New Krypton" where the old polytheistic deities would be worshipped, including Yuda Kal. For this purpose, the coven created three Worldkillers using advanced genetic engineering and dark magic. When Krypton died, Vita was one of the few survivors of the coven and lived on Argo City, waiting for the Worldkillers, who were sent to Earth, to awaken.
Making New Krypton[]
Vita, Ayala and Selena stole J'onn's ship and journeyed to Earth. They met Thomas Coville, who gave Selena a beacon to give rise to the Fortress of Sanctuary.[1]
At the Fortress of Sanctuary, they reflected on the prophecy of the Worldkillers, which brought them to Earth, and the fact that the Earth's yellow sun granted them extraordinary powers. When they began the ritual to summon Reign, the Harun-El needed to resurrect the Worldkiller burned Ayala's hand since the Earth's atmosphere made it toxic to Kryptonians, so Coville offered to act out the ritual for them. The ceremony progressed with Coville holding the Harun-El over the flames. However, they noticed that Reign was unformed as she lacked the bloodline of her deceased sisters. Coville directed them to the D.E.O., where they would find the blood samples of Purity and Pestilence.
Vita, Selena, and Ayala attacked the D.E.O. headquarters, demanding the blood of Pestilence and Purity. Alex Danvers shot an electrical net at the trio, trapping them until Selena used her heat vision to destroy it. Selena instructed Vita and Ayala to find the blood samples and the two flew off. Vita later encountered Winn Schott as he was working on a portal. Vita was unable to kill Winn with her heat vision due to his protective technology, so she threw him across the room, knocking him unconscious. She then began to leave, only to be confronted by a hologram of Alura, who she mistook for the actual person. Shocked, Vita questioned how Alura survived the explosion. Alura remarked that she is faster than she looks and strode over to the previous room, with Vita following closely. Alura took a jab at Vita's intelligence, angering her. Vita attempted to punch the hologram but hit the activation button for the portal and was subsequently knocked out by Mon-El when he came through. The three priestesses regrouped and killed Demos with their heat vision as he gave the blood samples to Supergirl. Selena caught the blood samples as Supergirl tried to burn them in the air and Vita created a bright blink of light for them to escape.
When they returned to the Fortress of Sanctuary, Selena added the blood of the two deceased Worldkillers into the pit of flames. The figure of lava began to take shape and morphed into Reign. A resurrected Reign stood up, grabbing the Sword of Juru from the ground, and greeted the priestesses. Coville threw the Harun-El into the pit, which caused it to grow in size, creating an entrance into Earth's core. The trio then concluded that they had no need for Coville anymore and Selena killed him with her heat vision. Reign flew into the portal to terraform Earth, beginning the transition into New Krypton.[2]
Capture[]
Supergirl and her team appeared in the fortress while the coven had just finished recreating Reign. She fought the Superfriends and was handcuffed by them before being knocked out. After Reign's death, she was taken with her allies to stand trial in Argo City.[3]
Anti-Monitor Crisis[]
During the Anti-Monitor Crisis, Vita as well as everyone in the multiverse except for the seven Paragons, was killed in an antimatter wave by the Anti-Monitor on December 10, 2019,[4] only to be restored a month later, after the Paragons and the Spectre created a new universe.[5]
New multiverse[]
In the new earth, Vita's history remains the same.[6] She was also once mistook for her Earth-TUD17 doppelganger. Later, A virtual simulation of Vita was done on Obsidian Platinum.[7]
At some point her coven tried to find Krypton's set of the AllStone Totems, but they all ended up driving themselves crazy trying to pass the gauntlets. Vita recorded all her knowledge into a crystal, which later made its way to the Fortress of Solitude. Trying to find the Totems, the Superfriends enlisted the help of Vita, who briefly possessed Brainy and helped Lena Luthor accept her magical powers.[8]
Personality[]
- "I'm surprised Selena kept you. You were never very smart."
- —Alura Zor-El's hologram to Vita[src]
Not much is known about Vita's personality but just like the rest of the dark priestesses, she is shown to be cold, emotionless, and sadistic with a complete disregard for humans. She will not let anything stand in her way of creating "New Krypton" and even helped brutally murder a D.E.O. agent without batting an eye.
Unlike Selena and Ayala though, Vita seems more prone to impulsive violence and had no skill in stealth or tact. For example, Alura was able to easily pose as her real self through a hologram and goad Vita into trying to hit her, which allowed a portal to the D.E.O. to activate.
Powers and abilities[]
Powers[]
- Kryptonian Dark magic: Vita is adept in manipulating dark mystical forces.
- Power imbuing: Vita was one of the many who helped genetically engineer and enchant Reign and the other two deceased Worldkillers.
- Kryptonian physiology: Normally, like all Kryptonians, Vita's capabilities were no greater than a normal human of her physical conditioning. However, once charged by the energy of a yellow sun and metabolized into her body, she is able to perform various inhuman feats. However, this never happened to a full extent, as she wasn't completely exposed to a sun different from the Kryptonians' natural red one.
- Solar energy absorption: While Vita's powers are dependent on the energy spectrum from a yellow sun, her body is able to constantly and passively absorb such energy while exposed to it, essentially keeping her reserves fully charged near-constantly. Direct exposure to the light of a yellow sun will also accelerate her recovery from any injuries she does manage to sustain.
- Accelerated healing factor: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita's metabolism is tremendously enhanced by solar energy, allowing accelerated healing abilities and burning calories at a superhuman rate, making her unable to gain weight.
- Contaminant immunity: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita has an immunity to all forms of disease and contaminants on Earth.
- Flight: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita is able to manipulate her own gravitational field to generate thrust and propel herself through the air, often at hyper-sonic speeds, much faster than she can travel by foot. As such, she is able to levitate and fly past Earth's atmosphere and near the planet's orbit.
- Sleep flight: Vita has the ability to float in the air, thanks to her ability of flying, while she sleeps, or as a voluntary act.
- Levitation: Vita can levitate using her flight abilities.
- Heat vision: Vita can emit blue energy beams of intense heat from her eyes.
- Invulnerability: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita is essentially invulnerable to all Earthly weapons, with bullets simply ricocheting whenever they come into contact with her skin.
- Extreme heat resistance: Vita feels no pain when exposed to extreme heat.
- Elemental resistance: Vita feels no pain when exposed to harmful elements like rocks, fire, electricity, and ice.
- Self-sustenance: Due to the effects of a yellow sun, Vita's physical needs are greatly reduced or completely removed.
- Atmospheric adaption: While Vita does require oxygen, her physicality allows her to survive while inhaling more harsh forms of it, or even no oxygen at all.
- Longevity: As a Kryptonian, Vita's life span is considerably longer than a normal human and likewise ages much slower.
- Super breath: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita is able to exhale powerful gusts of air from her mouth which are similar to force winds. She can also cause the temperature of her breath to drop, therefore able to freeze nearly anything.
- Super inhalation: Vita can reverse the effects of her super breath in order to suck in gaseous substances, including those that would otherwise be harmful to humans.
- Super hearing: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita has super-sensitive ears that can perfectly pick up sounds from miles away and even through structures.
- Super speed: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita possesses the ability to move at hyper-sonic speeds, both through flight and on foot.
- Accelerated perception: While using her super speed, Vita sees everything much slower allowing her to move with precision and accuracy within very fast moments.
- Super strength: Vita's strength is enhanced under a yellow sun, enough to easily kill a normal human if she were to attack them directly.
- Thunderclap: When Vita uses her super strength to clap her hands together, it creates a powerful shockwave that throws enemies back. It also destroys glass, pushes objects away from her and disorients anyone nearby.
- Super leaping: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita is able to jump several stories in a single bound without having to fly.
- Super stamina: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita can run, fight or fly for long periods of time, without getting tired.
- Super reflexes: When exposed to a yellow sun, Vita's reflexes are so fast, she can respond to attacks within seconds.
- Super vision: While under the effects of a yellow sun, Vita's vision is greatly enhanced.
- Electromagnetic spectrum vision: As a Kryptonian, Vita can see well into most of the electromagnetic spectrum. She can see and identify radio and television signals as well as all other broadcast or transmitted frequencies. Using this ability, she can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods.
- Microscopic vision: Vita has achieved the ability to see extremely small objects down to the atomic level, and magnify objects for her eyes to see.
- Telescopic vision: Vita possesses the ability to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. Though limited, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, it is similar to the zoom lens on a camera.
- X-ray vision: Vita has the ability to see through objects; except for lead.
- Infrared thermal vision: Vita has the ability to see heat and cold signatures of people and other objects. Reign can also see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.
- Telepathy immunity: Vita is immune to most forms of telepathic powers, even from someone as powerful as J'onn J'onzz.
- Accelerated healing factor: While under the affects of the yellow sun, Vita's metabolism is tremendously enhanced by solar energy, allowing accelerated healing abilities and burning calories at a superhuman rate, making her unable to gain weight.
Abilities[]
- Occult knowledge: As a dark priestess, Vita was knowledgable in dark magic rituals, performing a ceremony to resurrect Reign.
- Bilingual: Vita is capable of speaking fluently English and Kryptonese.
Weaknesses[]
- Kryptonite: Like all Kryptonians, even while empowered, Vita is vulnerable to the exposure of Kryptonite, a radioactive mineral from her home planet Krypton. Depending on the nature of the said Kryptonite, it will cause a different adverse affect on her;
- Green Kryptonite: Green Kryptonite not only physically hurts Vita, but weakens her physical attributes, leaving her vulnerable to weapons and anything in general that can kill a normal human, but if she is exposed to it for too long, it will kill her.
- Red Kryptonite: If exposed to Red Kryptonite, it gradually destroys Vita's inhibitions and turns her into a corrupt version of herself. Left without morality, compassion, rationality, or any cares whatsoever, Vita will become malevolent and prone to hostility and aggression, making her a danger to everyone around her.
- Silver Kryptonite: If exposed to Silver Kryptonite, it will cause Vita to go in a deep and frightful hallucination where nothing from the outside world can stir her out of it until it leaves her system.
- Lead: Even with her X-ray vision, Vita cannot see through lead.
