History
Summit with the Soviet Union
Sometime prior to 1942, the Justice Society of America created a hidden training facility in Washington, D.C. for the use of its members. Amaya Jiwe honed her skills there when she first joined the team.[1]
In 1987, President Reagan hosted a nuclear disarmament summit in Washington, D.C., which was attended by General Secretary Gorbachev of the Soviet Union. Detecting a time aberration emanating from the White House in this year, the Legends traveled to Washington, D.C. and attempted to enlist the help of the J.S.A. by contacting its members at their training facility. When Amaya arrived with Nate Heywood, they found the facility abandoned, but they were quickly confronted by the J.S.A.'s last surviving member, Todd Rice. He explained the fate that had befallen the rest of his team during a mission in 1956, and that the team had believed that Amaya had abandoned them following Rex Tyler's death.[1]
Meanwhile, at the behest of Eobard Thawne, Damien Darhk had managed to gain access to the summit as an adviser to the United States (Earth One) delegation. In secret, he colluded with Soviet agents to plant a bomb inside the White House, after which the summit would have to be postponed and moved to a different location. The Legends became aware of this plan and managed to convince Todd Rice to get them access to the White House, where together they confronted Darhk. Dismantling his Cold Gun, Ray Palmer managed to use its components to defuse the bomb, while Sara Lance and Nate Heywood dispatched Darhk's men and the Soviet agents. Before they could capture Darhk, however, he was rescued by Thawne, who sped him to safety. With the threat of the aberration gone, the Legends departed in the Waverider.[1]
